Asian Longhorn Tick in US

The Asian Longhorned Tick closely resembles the American Dog tick, and has long been mis-identified in the United States. The Longhorned Tick has been in the Eastern United States since at least 2017, and possible as long ago as 2010. These ticks do infect dogs and cats In dogs this tick transmits many tickborne diseases, including Ehrlicha, Anaplasma, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

It is extremely important to keep up with your pet’s tick (and flea!) prevention year round to protect them from all species of ticks, including the new tick on the block.
