Why grain-free is not recommended for your pet.
Pet owners are always looking for pet foods that are better for their beloved fur babies. With so many choices, we often look for the same things that we look for in our own food. Pet owners began asking for choices that reflected what was important to them, including grain-free diets. Nutritionally, these diets were complete. However, as time went on, several dogs that ate the grain-free diets developed Canine Dilated Cardiomyopathy. In 2018, the FDA conducted a study linking the ingredients that replaced the grain in the diets to actually causing the disease.
There are ongoing studies regarding the risk of feeding a grain-free diet, and we agree that grain-free foods cause heart disease in some dogs. Our veterinarians are advising against feeding grain-free diets. If you have been feeding grain-free diets, we recommend discontinuing the diets immediately.
